Dr. Fejer Almajed has a background of professional experience in the distinct but interrelated disciplines of medicine, psychotherapy and research.
She graduated as a medical doctor from Aberdeen University in July 2008 and went on to work as a doctor for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health in the fields of internal medicine and later general practice.
In 2012, Dr. Fejer was accepted and later on completed a clinical doctorate at the University of Edinburgh, and is now trained as both a psychodynamic psychotherapist and researcher. Her special areas of interest lie in psychotic experiences and hearing voices. She also works more generally with clients with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, marriage breakdown and job loss.
Dr. Fejer’s research interests lie in the field of illness narratives, arts-based approaches and psychosis from the perspectives of psychotherapist and doctor.
With appearances on television and radio, while also volunteering with the Mind ME campaign for reducing mental health stigma, Dr. Fejer believes in the importance of community outreach and how therapy can play a much bigger role in society, contributing to the health and resilience of clients, inpatients and other members of the Kuwaiti community.
